Sleeping Tiger Unleashed at 2007 NAACP Image Awards

Celebrities attending the NAACP Image Awards on March 2 were delighted to find a Tiger in their midst. Laurie "Tiger" Desjardins attended the Awards ceremony and after-party where she unveiled ZenSticksT, her unique meditation tools carved from environment-friendly harvested exotic woods, and talked about the tiger rescue efforts at My Brother's Keeper Animal Sanctuary.

Star Quality Relaxation Tools
No other meditation and relaxation tool could be better suited to the sophisticated tastes of the leaders and celebrities who attended the NAACP Image Awards. Each Zen Stick is made from an exotic hardwood and lavishly jewel-polished to a sparkling sheen before it's wrapped in a special sheath made from a retired Japanese obi.

Laurie Desjardins gave several of the exotic hardwood meditation tools to celebrities attending the NAACP Image Awards who were interested in learning more about them and My Brother's Keeper, including India Arie, author Sharon M. Draper, Louis Gossett Jr., Jennifer Hudson, Raven Simone, and the cast of the hit TV show Heroes.

Eco-Friendly Stress Relief
ZenSticks offer a simple, elegant, and effective meditation technique for those dealing with the stress of being in the limelight, but since the wood used to make the meditation and relaxation tools are harvested without negatively impacting the environment, any environmentally-conscious person looking for a little stress relief can enjoy the beauty and function of ZenSticks.

Zen Stick meditation tools are made from three kinds of exotic hardwoods: Olive wood from California, Koa wood from Hawaii, and Lignum Vitae (the Wood of Life). Most ZenSticks use woods gathered from pruned clippings, recovered from fallen trees, or grown especially for harvesting, so no natural forests are ever disturbed to create these meditation tools.

Changing Our Stripes: Tiger Conservation
Laurie shared the story of My Brothers' Keeper Animal Sanctuary and its unusual policies for both tigers and donors with the celebrities. Having worked at three big cat refuges before creating her own safe haven for rescued tigers, Tiger designed her compound to ensure the highest quality of life possible for the animals living in her care, rather than sacrificing quality of life to rescue more cats.

Donors are able to choose whether their contributions go to food, toys, medical care, or other needs, and are kept informed and have a say in how the sanctuary is maintained. My Brother's Keeper now cares for two Siberian male tigers and a Bengal female. A portion of the proceeds from every Zen Stick meditation tool goes to support this worthy cause.

Anyone interested in reducing stress and promoting conservation can purchase a Zen Stick meditation tool and support My Brother's Keeper Animal Sanctuary. It is also possible to contribute directly to the care and welfare of these beautiful cats.
